Dog Eat Dog Poke Cat

I have to wonder about Doggie-Etiquette. Why do they sniff each other's butts and how do dogs know who is the primary Sniffer and who is the key Snifee? I’ve noticed that small dogs cop these miniature napolean-complexes and think they're ‘all that’ in the face of a much larger and seemingly more intimidating dog. There's nothing like catching some tea-cup Yorkie ready to give a husky the what-for, given that the husky could eat the little scrapper for lunch. I’m not sure I can make the leap from occasional dog-sitter to dog owner. That warm plastic baggie would get the best of me.

Now cats, on the other hand are low maintenance, generally quiet, are self-cleaning and can cop a serious attitude of their own when they don’t get their way. Michia pushes things off of my desk when she is dissatisfied with her living conditions. She has also been known to turn off computers, open doors and I’m pretty sure that she uses the internet when I’m not around. [there’s a place here somewhere for a joke about kitty porn but I’m not sure that I like the implication] She is absolutely disgusted at the idea of Kevlar [our occasional dog-sit]. She looks at him as if he was the most abominable, foul-smelling creature that ever walked the earth. She stares him down and if he moves within a millimeter of personal space she gives him the time-tested ‘get out of my face’ hiss and swipe.

Kitee** has a unique view of the world. She washes her face in her water bowl and she loves a good Zombie movie. She has a tremendous crush on Kevlar and has yet to notice that he is a dog. Whenever she sees him, she sluts around in true kitten-style, flirting and rubbing against his mane while tickling his nose with her tail. She then throws herself on the floor until he pokes her repeatedly in the belly with his nose. It’s truly puppy love.

**Yes, I do realize that it is inherently lame that as a so called creative-person, I named my cat Kitee. [a.k.a. Rabbit, Mouse or Peeper] I picked her up at the pound one day, long ago while I was working at Modem Media. 99.9% of my creativity was given to that job so the change of spelling was the best I could pull together. Besides, it fits her personality like a glove.
