Happy or Hard

I went to visit Heather at Beth Israel in Boston on Saturday.

Heather is amazing.

I am sitting there in awe as she tells us of the procedures
and the chemo
and the methatrexate
as she laughs about how not one of her procedures has gone smoothly
and describes how her veins are now collapsing from all of the chemo,
how she misses her newborn baby and can't wait to hold him.

She explained how they harvest her own cells
for the bone marrow transplant.

The most incredible thing is that with all of this
with all of the pain
and the fear
she summed it up with, "Happy or Hard".

She said, "Each day, we all have the choice to make it Happy or make it Hard"

She, regardless of circumstances has chosen "Happy". And with all that has been handed her way, she never asks 'Why Me?"--she just says "Why not Me?" [or anyone else for that matter]

She is dealing with this head on...and better than I could ever imagine anyone to handle something like this.

She is an inspiration.
