The Cure

I get this craving to listen to old Cure [the Head on the Door album] and it brings back all sorts of memories of going to the Cure concert when I was 14 or 15 with my super cool short hair [that was the last time that will happen] all spiked up on one side. I remember we [me and Jules] wore all black and thought we were all sorts of cool in our Converse hightops and Green lipstick.

That's right, Green. If it had been black, then I would have been cool. But nope, in my typical way of missing the coolness factor by *just that much* I chose some nasty frakenstein-blood green.

Maybe all of this memory lane stuff is coming up in anticipation of my birthday on June 1st. Dare I say it? We went to that Cure Concert 20 years ago. [ ! ]

Thanks to technology, everyday life gets better and bettter.

Who would of thought they would dream up an integration of my favorite things: apple computer, nike, running and my nanopod in a way that lets me not only listen to whatever music I want but embed a chip into my fancy kicks that is synced w/my nanopod that will tell me how far I ran, how far I have to go....my pace and then let me upload all of the info to the mac.

Brilliant.

Catastrophe

there's been talk of getting another cat.
the issue we haven't resolved is that Andrew wants a 20lb massive fat cat and I want a 20oz. kitten. Maybe we can start with a small cat and watch it grow?

In the meantime, food for thought:

FloYo

So I'm taking this flow yoga class in a hot room
and all was going well, except....
the instructor was a little too attentive.

i appreciate the rogue adjustment now and then
but when someone is on me constantly,
it ruins my practice.

at one point she was pulling me into upward dog,
and ironically enough I barked:

"i don't like to be adjusted so much"

how un-yoga of me.

what can I tell ya.

sometimes i just want to do yoga,
no frills.

Bad Idea

A bad idea is to go out for sushi and sake
washed down with a grande americano
and a cotton candy chaser

and then stop by a fair at your alma mater elementary school

and hop on any ride [in this case, two]
that twirl you around
like you hopped in a blender.

Typical

I was at my continuing ed. class at Greewich High School and these were the math problems on the blackboard:

"You have a $65,000 BMW 745 in 2006. How much will you be able to sell it for in 2012 if the rate of depreciation in 15% per year"

and

"Jordan just withdrew $65,000 from a trust fund that his grandfather made for him 15 yrs. ago. If the interest was compounded quarterly, how much did Granpa initally invest?"

Well, you might as well keep it relevant.

Running

The thing I love about running is that I can take it everywhere I go.

I was just in Missouri for a wedding.

I ran past the wheat fields and the fields that were just tilled and the tender green corn fields that had just been planted.

I've run in California, Montana, Arizona, Utah, Colorado, Florida and all over the East. On the island of Moorea off of Tahiti...In St. Martin...Nevis...St. Barths..Nantucket. In Turks and Caicos, the South of France, St. Thomas and St. John and in Tulum.

I can't think of a better way to experience an environment.

Someday, I hope to run here...

American Dream

The American Dream 1956:
"The belief held by many in the United States of America that through hard work, courage, and determination one can achieve a better life for oneself, usually through financial prosperity."

The American Dream 2006:
Working at home so you can send emails naked.

Addict

I am an addict.
Scrounging around for twenty dollar bills
to afford my yoga habit.
